Hon. Mohamed Billor Shaw, Member of Parliament for Constituency 039, has on Sunday, February 23, 2024, embarked on a heartfelt “Thank You Tour” across his constituency, which includes the Dembelia-Musaia, Dembelia-Sikunia, and Folosaba-Kamba Chiefdoms, as well as sections of Kebelai Chiefdom, all in the Falaba District.
The event was a great celebration attended by a diverse group of locals, including delegates from 13 chiefdoms in Falaba District, held in Bindi Court Barray. Hon. Shaw of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) was greeted warmly.
He conveyed his sincere appreciation to the residents of Falaba, stating that the “Thank You Tour” provided an opportunity for him to appreciate their support and for them to express their gratitude. The Hon. Shaw highlighted several accomplishments during his tenure, including the authorization of teaching staff, the construction of secondary school in Falaba, access to safe drinking water, power supply via a 24-hour solar mini grid, and ongoing medical center rehabilitations with oxygen facilities.
Hon. Shaw described how these projects have had a good impact on the community, which he believes has improved residents’ quality of life.
He emphasized the necessity of SLPP supporters coming together and spreading the party’s beliefs in order to ensure the party’s future success and support. He also asked his constituents to promote peace and harmony, stating the importance of treating others the same as one would like to be treated.
Hon. Alhaji Foday Maddie Jabbie, Member of Parliament for Falaba District, expressed sympathy with the outgoing SLPP officials and congratulated them for their devotion and hard work, which led to the party’s victory in the 2023 elections. He urged the newly elected party officials to sustain the momentum and assure the SLPP’s ongoing success in 2028.
Yayah Wan, the SLPP District Chairman, also spoke, praising Hon. Shaw’s efforts to advocate for people’s demands at the national level. He praised the district’s enhanced infrastructure, particularly the 24-hour solar power supply, which has substantially benefitted local companies.
The Falaba District Women’s Leader also thanked the people for their continued support and urged women to keep the district peaceful and stable.
