The outcome of the autopsy on the remains of Alie Thullah, a third-year student at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and a professional technician employed by SATCOM, has finally resolved the mystery surrounding his death at the HBS H. BAYDON & SONS business establishment on Wilberforce Street, Freetown.

Contrary to earlier claims and allegations of murder, the postmortem report reveals that Thullah died from ventricular fibrillation caused by electrocution, which led to paralysis of his respiratory center and muscles.

It is worth recalling that in its edition on Thursday, October 3, 2024, Salone Compass published a front-page story headlined, “Death of IPAM Student… BAYDON & SONS DEBUNKS SOCIAL MEDIA LIES,” promising to keep its readers informed as more information emerged.

Salone Compass also reported that contrary to social media rumors of murder, sources indicated that the relationship between Merhi Baydon, the business manager, and the late Thullah was close and cordial, having known each other for years.

Thullah had been Baydon’s preferred technician for professional services, and on Monday, Baydon had called on him to fix an issue with a satellite dish.

The article further explained that CCTV footage, submitted to the police, showed Thullah arriving at the establishment and being directed to the ceiling’s manhole, through which he climbed into the inner roof to carry out his work. Baydon, assuming the task was being handled, returned to his office.

After hours passed with no updates, Baydon attempted to contact Thullah by phone several times but received no response. He eventually assumed that Thullah had left and locked the office for the night.

However, on Tuesday morning, an Indian national whose office was near the roof’s manhole but had been absent the previous day, returned.

He noticed a strong foul odor and upon investigating, discovered Thullah’s lifeless body in the ceiling. He immediately rushed out in panic and contacted Merhi, who, upon being notified, quickly called the police.

Merhi also contacted SATCOM to inform them of the incident and reached out to Thullah’s family, who responded swiftly. Thullah’s remains were later transported to Connaught Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination, the results of which have now been released, clarifying the circumstances of his death.
