As part of the company cooperate social responsibility, the Seawright Mining Company has constructed a solar powered borehole water worth over $ 23,000 that will provide safe and pure drinking water for five communities which includes Koafuneh, Hoalland, Boroma, Kaidu and Koiyor located in Gbense Chiefdom Kono District.
According to the Community Affairs Manager of Seawright Mining Company in Kono District Julian Jonjo the facility has a 10,000 liters Milla tank and six taps which can effectively serve all of these Communities with quality water not only for drinking, but for other domestic uses.
He cited that this is first time in the history of mining in Kono District for a mining company to have invested in a project of safe drinking water facility.
He maintained that several Communities within the Chiefdom in Kono District are challenged with safe drinking water facility and that is why the company deemed it necessary to undertaken the move of water project.
The Community Affairs Manager of Seawright Mining Company in Kono District Julian Jonjo further stated that, the company is also constructing similar borehole in Kissibona area with more population.
He pointed out that the solar power boreholes water facilities will continue to be constructed in several communities in the chiefdom as the company embarks on its development drive.
Julian Jonjo said the construction of borehole water facility in different Communities is part of Seawright Mining Company effort to ensure that the local people living within its concession and the rest of Koidu City with safe drinking water facilitiesity.
