The administration of University Secondary School Njala Kori chiefdom moyamba district has announced a controversial decision regarding pregnant students.

In a recent speech delivered by Principal Paul Brewah , all pregnant girls currently attending school have been instructed to leave immediately to seek prenatal care.

During the address on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Brewah emphasized the school’s commitment to the health and well-being of its students. He stated that starting Monday, March 10, all pregnant girls attending classes would be required to return home and focus on their health, particularly as they approach childbirth.

Mr. Brewah further noted that the decision aligns with the school’s policy, which endorses that pregnant students should prioritize their health. He highlighted that the school recognizes the importance of prenatal care and encourages young mothers to return to school once they are able.

In response to the announcement, many have expressed concern over the implications for the education of these young girls. Critics argue that this policy could hinder their academic progress and future opportunities.

The school has stated that it will assist those affected in finding alternative educational resources to continue their studies post-maternity.
