The Methodist Primary School in Segbwema now has a new pre-primary building featuring three classrooms and a wash facility, addressing the critical need for improved early childhood education infrastructure in the community.
The new facility was officially handed over in a ceremony attended by senior government officials, marking a significant step toward enhancing learning conditions for young students.
The project was fully funded by Hon. Sarjoh Aziz Kamara, Deputy Minister of Technical and Higher Education and a proud native of Segbwema. In a gesture of giving back to his alma mater, Kamara and his family invested in the construction of the new facility, demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting education and community development in his hometown.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Augustine Kickugame Koroma, National Programme Coordinator for the Free Quality School Education (FQSE), commended Hon. Kamara for his contribution to improving education infrastructure in his home community. He called on other government appointees and leaders to emulate the Deputy Minister’s example by investing in the communities they hail from.
Mr. Koroma further assured the school administration of his office’s commitment to ensuring the institution benefits from the national school feeding programme and other opportunities under the Free Quality School Education initiative.
He emphasized that such interventions directly support the Government of Sierra Leone’s Foundational Learning Agenda championed by His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
