The Sierra Leone Police Wives Association have concluded their annual outing at Sugar Land Beach in Goderich, Western Rural District. The beach outing brought together police families in and around Freetown to share their joy and excitement over the past 11 months.
The Association described the outing as hosted “in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere”.
They said the event was organised in a bid to strengthen unity and cordial relationships among families of police personnel in the country.
During the outing, wife of the Inspector General of Police, Matilda Doris Sellu, said proceeds from the event will be repurposed for the development of the Association, especially support for women within the Association and other development projects.
She recounted how funds from the previous year were used as loans for some members in the Association to improve their livelihood thereby providing support for their families.
The Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu praised the Association for their welfare programs and unity among members. The Inspector General also praised the Army Chief for his presence at the event tagging it as a form of solidarity between the police and the army.

Police families from all regions of the country were present at the event and were able rekindled their friendships through games, social interaction and refreshments.
