A candidate for the presidency of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Aminata Bangura, has been accused of forgery regarding her police clearance certificate, according to a leaked letter provided to the SLFA Ethics Committee.

According to a report, the committee found evidence suggesting that Bangura “forged” a police clearance certificate dated June 10, 2025.

In response to the allegations, Bangura, through her legal representatives, asserted that she obtained the police clearance legitimately from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The certificate, as claimed by her Lawyers, was signed by the Head of the CID on the same date and was submitted as part of her nomination documents for the SLFA presidency.

Bangura’s lawyers emphasized that she was cleared by the SLFA Electoral Committee prior to her appearance before the Ethics Committee on July 12, where she was presented with a letter from the Head of CID rescinding the police clearance.

They argued that any administrative errors leading to the issuance of the certificate should be attributed to the police management, not to Aminata Bangura.

The legal team stated, “If anything, any administrative lapse antecedent to the issuance of the said certificate should be imputed to the management of the police and not our client.”

They also warned that any findings of fraud or fraudulent conduct without a prosecutorial conclusion could lead Bangura to pursue legal remedies for defamation and other claims to safeguard her professional and personal reputation.

They further noted that she reserves the right to initiate action at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
