In a court appearance on Monday, March 4th, 2024, Kelly Mansaray, a student from a learning institution in Sierra Leone stood before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.2 Pademba Road, Freetown, facing charges of fraudulently converting $2000 entrusted to him by one Fatmata Conteh.
Standard Times reports that Mansaray is accused of violating Section 20(1)(iv)(b) of the Larceny Act 1916, specifically charged with fraudulently converting funds. The alleged incident took place between the 1st and 31st of January, 2024, at the Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL) on Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown.
According to the particulars of the offense, Mansaray, entrusted with delivering $2000 (equivalent to forty-seven thousand, four hundred new Leones) from the Bank of Sierra Leone to Fatmata Contch, purportedly misappropriated the funds for his own use or benefit.
During the court proceedings, no bail was granted to the accused. The case is set to continue, awaiting further legal proceedings.
