Samuel Banya, a 27-year-old trader made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.3 in Freetown on a count of Larceny contrary to section 2 (p1) of the 1916 Larceny Act.
According to the particulars of the offense, on Tuesday, 28 March 2023, at JSO Langunda Wilberforce Barracks in Freetown, the accused stole one Tecno Spark 9 mobile phone valued at NLe2,900, one Samsung mobile phone valued at NLe10,000 and physical cash of NLe9, 000 all equal to the NLe13,800 property of Mariama Johnny Sesay.
The Accused, however, pleaded not guilty after hearing the charges in Court.
The prosecutor, Inspector Francis Macauley told the Court that his witness is present but he didn’t have a proper conference with him.
He, therefore, seeks a short adjournment date.
Magistrate Bangura further denied the Accused bail and sent him to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to Friday 7 April 2023, for another hearing.
