Two accused persons in the person of Ishmael Kaindaneh and Mohamed Bangura appeared before Magistrate Kekura to answer to two courts charges of stealing and conspiracy contrary to the law of Sierra Leone.
The two accused persons conspired with another person unknown to steal a vehicle belonging to one Abdul Raman Sesay, a Contractor.
The accused persons were arraigned on two counts charges of stealing and conspiracy contrary to section 2 of the larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, count 1 stated that the said accused persons on Saturday 25th December 2021 at SLRA compound PWD Kissy conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony to with Larceny.
Counts two adds that the accused person on the same date and same place did steal one Toyota Land Cruiser Vehicle with registration number ALL 333 valued at forty-seven thousand united state dollars equivalent to [Le 540,500,000,000]- a property belonging to one Abdul Raman Sesay. Count three also state that the accused persons on diverse date between 29,30 and 31 December 2021 at Lower Devil Hole in Waterloo in the western rural district maliciously damage the said vehicle.
The matter was prosecuted by ASP Christiana Davis Cole who said he recognized both accused persons in the dock and recalled on 24th December 2021 at around 8:30pm when he told the accused person to take the vehicle to SLRA kissy where he normally parked.
He continues that on 25th December 2021, he got an information from his fitter Abdul that the first accused has stolen the vehicle, and explained that based on that information, he went straight away to the Kissy Police Station and report the matter and the statement was obtained from him.
Defense counsel Sydney Campbell cross examined the witness and during his explanation the witness told the court that he only came to know the first accused in the matter as his fitter.
The witness disclose that he only came to know the second accused when the matter was reported to the police.
Voice of Salone Newspaper reports that, Lawyer Sydney Campbell applied for bail on behalf of the second accused noting that he believes on the merit of his defense.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura, however, refused granting bail to the accused persons bail and sent them to remand.
