The Country Director of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in Sierra Leone, Mirzet Muezzinoglu, has held a strategic meeting with officials of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Sierra Leone aimed at strengthening collaboration to accelerate transformative results for women, girls, and young people across the country.

The high-level engagement focused on forging a partnership that would support national development priorities while enhancing initiatives that promote the well-being and empowerment of women and youth.

During the discussions, UNFPA highlighted the impact of its ongoing interventions in Sierra Leone and outlined the strategic direction of its 8th Country Programme (2025–2030). The programme is designed to strengthen human capital development while contributing to the country’s broader development agenda.

Officials noted that as UNFPA intensifies its efforts to support sustainable development, expanding partnerships with development institutions remains critical to achieving meaningful results.

The meeting also built on the global partnership agreement between UNFPA and TIKA, with both parties exploring ways to translate that global commitment into concrete actions at the national level. Key areas of focus include expanding access to comprehensive reproductive health services, strengthening health infrastructure, and empowering young people.

UNFPA emphasized that sustainable development depends largely on strong and strategic partnerships. By working closely with partners such as TIKA, the organization aims to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fully realized.
