The appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Alphonso Abdulai Fambulleh as the new Local Unit Commander (LUC) in Port Loko has been met with optimism, as residents and stakeholders express confidence in his ability to strengthen security and deepen community-police collaboration.

With over three decades of distinguished service in the Sierra Leone Police, CSP Fambulleh brings a track record of discipline, operational expertise, and people-centered leadership. His career spans both national and international assignments, positioning him as a seasoned law enforcement leader capable of driving modern, community-oriented policing.

“CSP Fambulleh has consistently demonstrated that policing is not only about enforcement but about building trust and respect with the people we serve,” remarked a senior officer familiar with his leadership style.

Since joining the force in 1991, Fambulleh has steadily risen through the ranks. His career began at Lungi Police Station, where he earned his first promotion to sergeant. He later held pivotal roles as Crime Officer at Freetown International Airport, the Lumley Division, and at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on two separate occasions.

His reputation for operational excellence extends beyond Sierra Leone. In 2010, he was part of the pioneering group of eight Sierra Leonean officers deployed to Somalia under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), now AUSSOM. Upon his return in 2011, he took up critical roles at Central, Ross Road, and Lumley divisions, reinforcing his profile as a dependable field commander.

CSP Fambulleh’s leadership credentials were further tested in Bumbuna, where he served as Officer Commanding during the operations of African Minerals Limited from 2013 to 2018. His postings across Makeni Regional Headquarters, Mile 91, Mountain Division in Freetown, Magburaka, Jendema at the Liberia border, Bo West, and Kenema underscore his broad operational footprint.

He has also completed advanced professional training in Egypt, Kenya, Ghana, and Italy—programs that enriched his strategic approach to modern policing.

Community leaders in Port Loko view his arrival as timely. “We believe CSP Fambulleh’s leadership will strengthen security while ensuring our people are treated with fairness and respect,” a resident told Awoko.

Widely respected for his discipline, mentorship, and human-centered leadership, CSP Fambulleh is expected to leave a strong imprint on policing in Port Loko. His mandate aligns with the broader national agenda of enhancing law and order through trust, accountability, and effective community engagement.

As Port Loko ushers in its new police chief, expectations are high that his tenure will deliver safer neighborhoods, deeper partnerships, and a legacy of service that bridges the gap between law enforcement and the people.
