Mohamed Sulaiman made his first court appearance on Monday before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing charges of larceny.

The court heard that on August 19, 2024, Sulaiman allegedly broke into the home of Paul Jessie Moriba at 1 First Street, Adonkia, where he reportedly stole $3,300 from the complainant’s residence. This amount is said to be the total funds belonging to Moriba.

During the proceedings, Lawyer M. Kargbo Esq represented the prosecution, while Sulaiman appeared without legal counsel. Notably, the complainant was unable to attend the hearing due to an emergency situation, which was acknowledged by the court.

After reviewing the case, Magistrate Kekura denied bail to the accused and ordered his remand at the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned, with the next hearing scheduled for October 28, 2024.

This incident raises concerns about security and crime in the community, underscoring the need for increased vigilance and preventive measures to safeguard residents’ properties.
