The Sierra Leone U-17 girls football team received a hero’s welcome upon their return from Liberia after clinching the 2025 WAFU-A Championship.
The team was greeted by the First Vice President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Alie Badara Tarawallie, and the Minister of Sports, Augusta James-Teima, who conveyed President Julius Maada Bio’s message of pride and support for their achievement.

During a brief ceremony, the government presented the team with a NLe 5,000 cash donation as a token of appreciation for their outstanding performance.
The victory marks a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s youth football, highlighting the growing potential of the country’s young female athletes and signaling a bright future for women’s football in the nation.
