The Government of Sierra Leone has on 25th April 2025 reported a significant rise in Mpox disease cases, with 90 new infections confirmed as of April 25, 2025.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 678, with 394 active cases currently being monitored. Unfortunately, there have been no new recoveries reported, maintaining the total number of recoveries at 278, while the death toll remains at six.
The Western Area Urban continues to be the most affected region, accounting for the highest number of cases with a total of 678 confirmed infections. Within this area, the Western Area has reported 113 cases of Mpox.
In terms of provincial updates, Bambali District has recorded the highest number of cases in the province, with 12 confirmed infections. Other districts reporting cases include Port Loko with 8 cases and Kenema with 4 cases.
