Taking a bold step toward promoting financial inclusion and economic empowerment, Afrimoney, the mobile financial services arm of Africell, has officially launched its latest innovation the “ABOP Loan” service.

Speaking at the launch event, Martison Obeng-Agyei, CEO of Afrimoney, described ABOP as “a bridge to hope” designed to support Sierra Leoneans in meeting their short-term financial needs through quick, accessible microloans directly via their mobile wallets.

“It’s such a joy to be here today as we celebrate something truly special the launch of ABOP (as you already know to mean hope), our brand-new microloan product from Cell-Lo Africa,” Obeng-Agyei said.
“At Cell-Lo Africa, we believe real change begins when people are met at their point of need at the right time. ABOP is all about helping Sierra Leoneans the market woman, the Okada rider, the student, the unemployed to access funds when they need them most.” Said Martison Obeng-Agyei

He emphasized that the ABOP Loan is not just another financial product, but “a helping hand and a chance for people to take that next step forward.”

The ABOP Loan provides microloans accessible directly via mobile wallets, allowing users to borrow any amounts to cover emergencies or business needs without visiting a bank or dealing with third parties. Customers can check their eligibility and apply by dialing *161# using their Africell SIM card and selecting the Afrimoney wallet option.

Obeng-Agyei further encouraged users to act responsibly and repay their loans promptly to ensure the sustainability of the service.

“The money is not meant for individuals to take and not pay back. We encourage everyone to make the same effort to repay as they did to borrow, so that others can also benefit,” he advised. He concluded by reaffirming Afrimoney’s commitment to empowering Sierra Leoneans through digital financial services that bring hope, access, and opportunity to every user.

With the introduction of ABOP, Afrimoney reaffirms its commitment to supporting financial growth and inclusion across Sierra Leone, giving ordinary citizens access to tools that make everyday life a little easier and full of hope.
