The Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has been invited by the Special Investigation Committee (SIC) to provide insights on the incidents of 8-10 August 2022 in several parts of the country.
The SIC made this revelation in a open letter date 6 January, 2022, signed by the Secretary of the Committee, Lawrence L. Bassie, and addressed to Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr.

Invitation to meet with the Special Investigation Committee (SIC) on the incidents of 8-10 August 2022 in several parts of the country.
You will recall that H.E the President Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Julius Maada Bio set up a Special Investigation Committee on 24 August 2022 to look into the incidents of 8-10 August in the country which saw massive destruction of property and loss of lives.
You are kindly invited to meet with the SIC at NaCOVERC HQ at 17 Guard Room, Spur Road, Freetown on Tuesday 17 January 2023 at 3 p.m. to provide insights that will assist the work of the committee.
