High Court Judge, Justice Adrian Fisher has put on hold the main opposition All People’s Congress party preparations for National Delegations Conference with no stated date for ruling on the constitutional person matter before him.
The party’s new constitution which came to effect midnight on 24th March, 2022 awaits implementation pending Justice Adrian Fisher’s ruling on the matter between Alfred Peter Conteh and APC.
Many party stalwarts anticipated that Justice Fisher would have passed ruling on the matter one or two day after the new party constitution gazette period expired.
Meanwhile, APC’s proposed timetable for all internal elections up to election of flagbearer awaits the outcome of the ruling of Justice Fisher.
The outcome of the ruling set out the roadmap to lower-level elections, as well as the election of national executive in the National Delegates’ Conference where a presidential candidate will be elected.
Alfred Conteh who is a patron member took the APC National Chairman and Leader; erstwhile President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma led APC National Executive to court challenging the legality of its terms in office.
The new constitution has been repealed and replaced the 1995 APC Party constitution which many said was archaic and lacks modern tenets of contemporary democracy.
According to the Satellite Newspaper, the new constitution emanated from the report o the committee set up after the Party lost governance in 2018 election which laid in its recommendation for a review of the party constitution.
