Addressing recent developments, Alhaji Sidi Yayah Tunis, the National Publicity Secretary for the Main Opposition Party-APC party has reaffirmed the party’s unwavering focus on national issues, while acknowledging the importance of government actions aimed at fostering reconciliation.
Speaking on the matter, Tunis noted that the action by the Government of Sierra Leone to release political prisoners earlier this week was taken in line with Resolution 4 of the National Unity Agreement, describing it as a positive step towards strengthening peace and reconciliation.
He emphasized that the APC has consistently played its role as an opposition party by challenging the government on issues where it falls short. However, he assured that the party remains open and willing to support the government whenever it takes the right steps in the interest of the people.
“Our commitment is to Sierra Leone. We have been vocal in challenging the government on issues they are not handling well, while remaining open and willing to support them when they take the right steps,” Tunis stated.
The APC’s position highlights a balanced approach to opposition politics—ensuring accountability while also promoting national unity when the government delivers on commitments.
