Abdulai Papa Kargbo, Member of parliament representing Sierra Leone’s opposition All People’s Congress (APC) in Constituency 047, Tonkolili District  has been alleged as a trickster and a fraud who collects money from people with the promise of going into business and then disappears.

Sources from Germany and England (names withheld) told Sierraloaded that Honorable Papa went to Germany in December 2019 to meet with Sierra Leoneans in Germany, to discuss a Business Proposal with them. He told them that he is doing a Program for Schengen Visa, wherein he will arrange for their families to travel to Europe.

Sources continued that he asked for a certain amount they should pay for such program and persuaded them into sending the money to him. First Source in Germany said that she sent him € 600 which is equivalent to 7 million Leones, second and third Sources gave him € 800 equivalent to Le 9,600,000 and € 500 equivalent to le6,000,000 respectively.

The source from England said that she first gave Honorable papa € 2,400 equivalent to le28,800,000 and later continued to send him money which resulted to a total of le 70,000,000 for him to help her sisters travel to Europe.

Sources furthered, crying in the process, that Honorable Papa grabs their money and never helped their families travelled to Europe. They cried that from 2019-2020, Honorable papa gave them excuses with regards to the Covid-19 but as of now he is not even responding to their messages and calls.

Some of them said that they even bought a car for him and another sends money for lands that he told them that he was selling. The Source that paid for the land to Honorable papa, said that, Honorable papa told her that he was the owner of the land, so she asked her sister to go and see the land. She added that, when her sister went to see the land, Honorable papa made sure to connive with an elderly man whom was with him when showing the land to her sister, so that they would believe that it is indeed his. She said that when she had paid half the money, he later asked her to find a surveyor to share and give her, her own portion of the land so that she could make the balance payments. But to her greatest disappointment, when the day arrives, Honorable Papa never showed up and till date he has not gone there.

Another source told Sierraloaded that Honorable Papa sold the land she bought from him to another person and never returned her money.

These Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora are calling on the Government to intervene in this matter and help them get back their moneys and the leaders of the APC to caution Honorable Papa.

They told Sierraloaded that they have worked very hard in foreign countries to raise those moneys to help their families find their ways to Europe as that would have lessen the burden on them, but Honorable Papa stole that dream away from them and gave them nightmare.
