The chairman of the 21-Man Interim Transition Committee of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Alfred Peter Conteh has in a recent press conference held at the party’s national headquarters Railway Line, Brookfields, Freetown, disclosed that the much anticipating National Delegates Convention (NDC) to elect national officers and a presidential flag bearer for the 2023 multitier elections is expected to take place in January next year.
This comes following the review of the newly promulgated rules and regulations for the conduct of the party’s Internal lower level elections, after several attempts to hold the NDC failed due to court orders and injunctions.
According to Alfred Peter Conteh, the press conference was geared toward updating the public on some of the successes and challenges of the ITGC and also the outcome of the committees’ national wide tour to monitor and supervise the just concluded voter registration exercise.
During the press conference, Alfred Peter Conteh stated that preparation for organizing the NDC is at an advanced stage, stressing that it will possibly take place in January so that the party will have enough time to campaign and market its 2023 presidential candidate.
He further noted that electing the party flagbearer is one of the most important events in the party line of activities for winning the 2023 general elections.
He further that currently, there are three stages left for the party to complete regarding the promulgation of new rules and regulations for the conduct of the said lower-level elections as ordered by the court.

He further that currently, there are three stages left for the party to complete regarding the promulgation of new rules and regulations for the conduct of the said lower-level elections as ordered by the court. Alfred Peter Conteh also revealed that the ITGC has agreed to adhere to the review and advice from the PPRC and the new document, he disclosed will be handed over to the PPRC this week for further two weeks gazetting period and final approval.
The APC chairman also noted that, after completing those two stages, the party will proceed with the new membership registration drive across the country as ordered by the PPRC before finally starting the national internal lower-level elections and the NDC to elect national executive officers and the 2023 presidential candidate.
Alfred Peter Conteh further that the ITGC has received names of possible members of the party Electoral College Team that will be charged with the conduct of the lower level and national executive officers’ elections as stipulated in the new 2022 Ac constitution.
However, some members of one ITGC including the Secretary-General were not present at the press conference.
