The 21-Man Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC) of the All People’s Congress (APC) has in a Press Release issued past Monday, given the Committee’s Chairman Alfred Peter Conteh a 24 hour ultimatum to submit his 10-man list to form part of the composition of the Transitional Independent Election Management Committee (TIEMC) for the conduct of the party’s lower-level elections.
According to the release, should Alfred Peter Conteh fail to do as ordered, the Committee would be left with no other alternative but to invoke paragraph 90 (10) (6) of the High Court Orders of Justice Adrian Fisher.
The release also stated that all appointments made by Alfred Peter Conteh are henceforth considered illegal and a nullity and therefore called on party members and State Institutions not to deal with any of the said appointees in any capacity on behalf of the ITGC.
It also informed the public that Alfred Peter Conteh should submit the two members of his own component of the District Registration Team for the verification and registration of new members with immediate effect; otherwise the ITGC’s decision shall apply.
According to the Presa Release, members of the party should stop cooperating with any form of illegal or unilateral activities organized or conducted by Alfred Peter Conteh, including his proposed registration of members.
The ITGC noted that it was informing party members and the public that the Committee, under the supervision of the PPRC, shall commence the verification of party members and registration of new members in due course.
According to members of the ITGC, Alfred Peter Conteh has times without number, committed countless contempt of court; noting further that despite efforts by the various stakeholders to caution him and guide the committee through its mandate; the interim Chairman has been disregarding those interventions and goes further to unilaterally appoint interim chairmen of the districts, organs and the diaspora against the dictates of the Justice Adrian Fisher ruling, the PPRC and Stakeholders of the party.
