While the APC as a political party awaits the expiration of the two weeks maturity date of the party’s new constitution to undertake visible political activities, the party is reported embarking on a low-key political activity in the country, specifically in the Western Area where the National Headquarter is located on Old Railway Line, Brookfield in Freetown.
Regional Party Officers are reportedly engaged in coordination with the National Office and that in Makeni, where the party’s Leady and Chairman is having a rendezvous. Political meetings are managed in a way that news about it should not reach the public domain or the High Court Judge, Justice Adrian Fischer as he has already slammed an injunction against the party prohibiting it form holding convention or public political meetings. This warning is being observed by al the sundry in the party to avoid a violation of the injunction slammed against the party. But, while all these prohibitions are taking very serious effects, all member of the APC Party are patiently waiting for two things to happen, namely for the party’s new constitution to reach maturity stage and secondly for the Judgement of the APC case to be delivered.
Meanwhile, while these two important events are waiting to take place, the party planning committees are working assiduously to make the necessary impact at any time the political whistle is blown. As senior member of the party is visibly seen making the necessary efforts so with the Youth Wind of the party is also busy conducting meetings and coming up with reasonable and appreciable inputs and strategies to transform the party to ta political hard nut to break in the very near future. There are very clear indications that the APC is tired of being in the opposition and is determined to take up governance of the State of Sierra Leone if the SLPP allows to happen come 2023.
The two hurdles that the party would successfully overcome and increase its membership and give confidence to the voters that the future of the party would be very bright with time. The maturity date of two weeks (14 days) for the new constitution to come into force has significantly contributed to delaying the Court Judgment to be delivered on time as it will not be delivered prior to the maturity date of the constitution.
According to Standard Times Newspaper, this is to prevent a contravention of the Judgment against the new party stalwart who explained to this medium that it would be in the interest of the party to wait after the constitution has been released, followed by the Court Judgment.
According to a member of the legal team of the APC, the Court will not deliver a judgment that will come into conflict with the constitution “the Judgment as we begin to observe will not contravene the Constitution, instead it would add value to it to highlighting some areas in the Constitution that are compatible with the Judgment“ He said, and went on to say that he was not discussing anything that has to do with the expired Executive of the party will determined by the Court and if the Court condones expiration, which is legally wrong and unhelpful in any administrative setup it would be left with the Court to decide, but if on the other hand it is wrong a brilliant outcome is expected” he concluded.
