The National Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC), Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh, has disclosed that the fate of one of their members serving in the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) led government as Resident Minister of North-West Region, Alpha Kanu hangs in the balance.
Addressing APC supporters in Constituency 073 in Koya Chiefdom, Port Loko District ahead of Saturday’s parliamentary by-election, Amb. Yansaneh stated that Hon. Alpha Kanu remains a member of the APC as the party has not received a letter from him asking to terminate his membership of the APC, nor has the party written him a letter withdrawing his membership from APC.
However, the APC Secretary General sent out the message that if Ho. Alpha Kanu who he referred to as a bonafide member of APC campaigns for SLPP for Saturday’s Constituency 073 by-election, he will be kicked out of APC.
Dr. Yansaneh made it clear that the newly adopted APC 2021 Constitution which comes into force on 25th March 2022 prohibits any member from belonging to another political party.
He explained that they were called to a meeting by the Office of National Security (ONS) where they were informed of frightening news that APC members have allegedly said they would cut off Hon. Alpha Kanu’s head if he attended any SLPP meeting in Koya.
“Nobody plans to kill Alpha Kanu,” the APC scribe said, adding “But tell him to stay away”.
The Exclusive Newspaper furthered that, Dr. Yansaneh also dissociated APC from the reported threat to kill First Lady Fatima Bio. APC, Dr. Yansaneh averred, is a law-abiding party. That is why in the meeting with ONS that had in attendance the Chairman of the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), the Inspector General of Police, APC, he said, willingly singed a 28-point resolution aimed at guaranteeing peaceful elections in Koya and Kailahun this weekend. “We will sign anything that promotes law and order,” the APC Secretary General said.
