During a press conference held on Tuesday, 4th March, 2025, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah announced his key role in advocating for Africa during his visit to Denmark.

The Minister stated that he pleaded with the Danish government to uphold its commitment to allocating 0.7% of its Gross National Income (GNI) towards international development.

Denmark stands out as one of the highest per capita spenders on foreign aid, making Minister Bah’s appeal significant. With many leading donor nations contemplating cuts to foreign assistance, the Minister’s advocacy came at a critical time.

While in Denmark, Minister Bah explained that he engaged in discussions with the Minister of Finance, as well as the Ministers of Development and Foreign Affairs. According to him, he also met with leaders from all major political parties in the Danish Parliament.

He continued to explain that the meetings were focused on securing support for development initiatives that not only benefit Africa but also play a vital role in enhancing global security.
