In a recent interview on AYV TV, Information Minister Chernor Bah disclosed a crucial development in the investigation into the November 26th Failed Coup, declaring Former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma as a suspect. Minister Bah underscored a significant piece of evidence pointing towards the involvement of both former and current guards of the ex-president in the alleged coup attempt.

He emphasized, “The individuals who planned and executed the attempted coup included both former and current guards of Ex-President Koroma. They were actively involved in the coup attempt, with some traveling from his house in Makeni for the operation and returning after its failure.

According to the minister, these guards not only participated actively in the failed operation but also traveled from Dr. Koroma’s residence in Makeni to execute the plot, subsequently returning after the operation faced a setback. This revelation implicates a direct link between the ex-president’s security personnel and the coup attempt, raising questions about their motives and the extent of their involvement.

Minister Chernor Bah refrained from divulging additional details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation into Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma. However, he assured the public that the government’s actions are in strict adherence to the law. He emphasized the reliance on a combination of evidence, confessions, and information received during the investigation process.

While the minister acknowledged the existence of other compelling pieces of evidence, he opted to withhold them at this juncture, perhaps to avoid compromising the ongoing inquiry. Despite the gravity of the situation, Minister Bah asserted that the government’s actions are not driven by a witch-hunt but rather a commitment to upholding the rule of law. He reiterated that, the focus of the investigations into the failed coup is not party, ethnicity or region but on the facts.

This revelation adds a layer of complexity to the unfolding situation, leaving citizens eager to learn more about the evidence and the overall progress of the investigation. As the legal proceedings continue, the public remains on edge, awaiting further updates on this high-profile case.
