In a significant restructuring of Sierra Leone’s leadership, President Julius Maada Bio has announced a sweeping cabinet reshuffle aimed at reinforcing government agencies and strengthening international ties.
The appointments, confirmed in an official notice from the State House, place key figures in critical roles both domestically and abroad.
Among the most notable appointments, President Bio has selected Mr. Philip Bob Jusu as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Brussels, Belgium, and Dr. Mohamed Kanja Sesay as Ambassador to Paris, France. Pending parliamentary approval, these appointments aim to bolster Sierra Leone’s diplomatic relations within the European Union, with both ambassadors tasked with advancing partnerships and advocating for Sierra Leone’s interests abroad.
Domestically, influential leaders have been positioned to oversee essential national agencies. Paramount Chief Sadique M. Kapuwa has been appointed Chairman of the National Insurance Company, and Hon. Helen Kuyembeh will lead the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) as its new Chairperson, focusing on infrastructure improvement. Further, Dr. Wusu Sannoh has been named Chair of the National Monitoring and Evaluation Agency, with Mr. Moses Williams taking charge of the Statistics Council to support national data and accountability frameworks.
The reshuffle also introduces new leadership in key state corporations. Ambassador Joseph C. Blell will oversee the National Telecommunications Agency, while Mr. Mohamed E. K. Alie has been appointed to the National Commission for Social Action. Housing and utilities will also see fresh oversight, with Madam Kaday Zorokong at the Sierra Leone Housing Corporation, Mr. Lansana Konneh at the Sierra Leone Telecommunications Company, and Ing. P.K. Lansana as Chair of the Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Commission. Additionally, Mr. Joseph Ndanema has been appointed to lead the Sierra Leone Water Company, and Mr. Sahr Kpulun will head the Independent Police Complaints Board.
In other key operational roles, Mr. Jabez Rogers-Wright will serve as Managing Director of the National Insurance Company, and Mr. Raymond Katta has been named Executive Chairman of the Produce Marketing Board, both focusing on enhancing organizational effectiveness. Dr. Victor Massaquoi will take on the role of Principal of the Civil Service Training College, supporting capacity building within the public sector.
President Bio’s reshuffle underscores a commitment to improved governance and service delivery across Sierra Leone, with these appointments set to enhance both domestic frameworks and Sierra Leone’s standing in the global community.
