In a surprising turn of events, the former Minister of Presidential and Public Affairs under the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) government, Alhaji Dr. Alpha Bakarr Sahid Kanu, widely known as Alpha Khan, has been appointed as the Presidential Spokesman by President Bio.
This appointment marks President Bio’s second round of appointments following his re-election.
Alpha Khan’s decision to join the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) came just before the highly anticipated June 24th, 2023 elections. On Friday, May 28th, 2023, he officially resigned from the All People’s Congress (APC), a political move that raised eyebrows and sparked speculation about his future political affiliations.
Alpha Khan’s vast experience in the field of Presidential and Public Affairs, garnered during his tenure under the APC government, makes him a valuable asset to President Bio’s team. His new role as the Presidential Spokesman will require him to effectively communicate and articulate the government’s policies, decisions, and vision to the public and media.
