President Julius Maada Bio today officially said farewell to Ambassador Mohammed Foday Yumkella at State House as the diplomat prepares to assume his new position as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea.

The brief but formal ceremony marked the beginning of Yumkella’s next chapter in representing Sierra Leone abroad. As he prepares to take on his new responsibilities in Conakry, President Bio used the occasion to offer his best wishes and to express confidence in the Ambassador’s readiness for the task ahead.

President Bio noted the strong ties between Sierra Leone and Guinea, saying the relationship continues to be of great value to both countries. He said he believes that Ambassador Yumkella’s years of experience in diplomacy and public service will help move that connection forward in meaningful ways.

He also pointed out that the relationship between the two neighboring countries touches many areas, including trade, peace and security, and cross-border movement. He expressed hope that this partnership will continue to grow with consistent cooperation.

Ambassador Yumkella is now expected to begin his work in Guinea, where he will serve as Sierra Leone’s top representative. His role will involve maintaining communication between the two governments, building on shared interests, and supporting efforts that benefit both nations.

The event at State House served as both a farewell and a show of support for the Ambassador’s mission. President Bio extended his full support to Yumkella as he takes on this new challenge on behalf of the people of Sierra Leone.
