President Julius Maada Bio has on Wednesday convened a strategic planning retreat with his Ministers and key stakeholders, officially launching what he has termed a “Year of Action” for his administration.
The one-day retreat, described by Chief Minister Dr. Moinina David Sengeh as a “precursor” to a full cabinet planning session in the coming weeks, focused on prioritizing government programs and activities for 2026.
The meeting aimed to align all cabinet efforts with the targets of the National Development Plan, the Budget and Finance Act, and projects designed to have a tangible impact on citizens’ lives.
“We are guided by the priorities of the national development plan, the budget and finance act, and projects that have tangible impact on the lives of people,” Chief Minister Sengeh stated after the meeting. “We remain committed to ensuring that together we will deliver for every citizen.”

The retreat operationalizes the central theme of President Bio’s national address, in which he declared that 2026 must be a turning point from economic stabilization to the delivery of measurable results. “We have worked to stabilise our nation; now we must use that stability to deliver results,” the President said in his speech, cautioning that the year would not be for “easy words or quick assurances.”
Key priorities identified for the “Year of Action” include the flagship “Feed Salone” food security initiative, which President Bio reaffirmed as his administration’s top priority. He emphasized that supporting farmers with better inputs and infrastructure is critical to protecting families from high food prices.

The administration also plans a continued firm stance on the drug crisis, specifically targeting the synthetic drug “Kush.” President Bio warned that producers and sellers would “face the full force of the law,” while promising strengthened rehabilitation services.
Looking toward the political calendar, the President touched on the approaching 2028 General Elections, reaffirming his commitment to implementing the recommendations of the Tripartite Agreement to restore confidence in the electoral process.
resident Bio on social media after the meeting, said his administration “is committed to making progress that positively impacts all Sierra Leoneans.”
