Sierra Leone’s president Julius Maada Bio has today 2nd February 2023 officially launched phase II of the free sanitary pads distribution at the Bo Mini Stadium.

The distribution of free sanitary pads is an initiative of First Lady, Fatima Bio that was launched in 2019.

The initiative is to help girls stay in school during their menstrual period as previous studies show that some girls don’t go to school during their menstrual period because of a lack of hygienic sanitary pads.

Over the years, thousands of schoolgirls have benefited from the First Lady’s initiative which has helped them to stay in school during their menstrual period.
