His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio has appointed Mr. Joseph Maada Lahai as the new Commissioner of the National Youth Commission (NaYCOM), in accordance with Section 11(1) of the National Youth Commission Act, 2009.
The appointment, which was formally communicated in an official letter from the Government of Sierra Leone, is subject to parliamentary approval.
The letter advises Mr. Lahai to contact the Clerk of Parliament to facilitate a meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments and the Public Service, which will review and deliberate on the nomination.
Upon successful approval by Parliament, Mr. Lahai will be provided with the full terms and conditions of his appointment.
The National Youth Commission plays a vital role in coordinating and promoting youth development programs across Sierra Leone. Mr. Lahai’s nomination marks a continued effort by the Bio-led administration to strengthen youth-focused governance and empower the next generation through strategic leadership and institutional support.
