President Julius Maada Bio has met with the Sierra Leone male U-19 Cricket Team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Bio said his government remains committed to help and promote the youth of his country.

The President wished the Sierra Leone U-19 team success in the ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 1 Qualifier Tournament. Success in the Tournament will chance Sierra Leone to qualify for the U-19 Men’s World Cup in Sri Lanka, 2024.

Reports indicated that Bio’s meeting was propelled by the Junior Patriots’ performance against Nigeria in their first World Cup qualifying match.

Sierra Leone won by 9 wickets.

The Junior Patriots were able to squeeze the Yellow-Greens of Nigeria to 73 runs all out in 27 overs.

Sierra Leone is currently sitting at the top of the standings with two points.

The team will later compete with other teams including host Tanzania and Kenya.
