President Julius Maada Bio is expected to soon open the first tile manufacturing company in Sierra Leone, a major step for local industry and job creation.

According to Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh, the factory might also be the first of its kind in the sub-region.

The company, which is based in Tonkolili District, will begin by employing around 1,000 Sierra Leoneans. Over time, as the factory moves into later phases, that number is expected to rise to 4,000.

Chief Minister Sengeh said the tiles and stones produced will carry the colors and identity of what Sierra Leone means. The idea behind the factory came from a Sierra Leonean, who worked with local and international partners to bring the investment to life.

Chief Minister Sengeh shared the news on social media, noting the scale and potential of the new facility. The launch is seen as a boost for both employment and local production.

The opening date has not been confirmed, but early preparations are reported to be taking place in Tonkolili.
