Flooding has been reported at the Public Works Department (PWD) Junction along Pademba Road Campbell Street axis.
The flood is believed to have been caused by a heavy downpour on Wednesday morning.
Traffic along Pademba Road, Campbell Street, Dundas Street and Circular road are greatly disturbed by gushing water that has covered the motorways.
Locals in the area have been advised to stay indoors until the rain stops.
The flood is believed to have been caused by the clogged samba gutter, the largest sewer system in the Sierra Leonean capital.
Days ago, the Director of the Sierra Leone Metrological Agency (SLMet), Gabriel Kpaka said that the country will experience flooding in this year’s wet season.
He admonished authorities to put modalities in place to avert possible disaster.
Omg
Hmmm.. as early as May, flooding has commenced so soon due to man’s activities, dumping garbages everywhere just to blame authorities. Wow! This is unprecedented and obsurd , raising concerns when we shall have gone deep into the rains.
Really Sierra Leone we are all the cause to our problems, and not single person… So only God can save us from this problem.
So sad
So treble
The rain has not started yet.
And the last Mayor ” transformed” Freetown.
Dis nar problem ooo
Every year the same thing happens at that junction. Nothing has been done to avert the flooding in 30 years. Besides as as it starts raining everyone comes out with garbage they have kept year long and empty them in the gutters. Citizens need to take responsibility and stop blaming government. Nothing will work when government does what is required and citizens just go back and stuff garbage in the gutters. When the water has no passage because of blocked drainages, the filth and water comes into the streets causing flooding.
