Chidi Blyden, a Sierra Leonean and American citizen known for her work in international policy and development, has been appointed to the National Board of Directors of the World Affairs Councils of America.

This announcement comes as WACA welcomes four new board members for its new fiscal year.

Blyden joins Col. Susan Seaman Boré (USMC, ret.), Ambassador (ret.) Alina Romanowski, and Angela Weck in bringing fresh insight and leadership to the organization, which supports over 90 local World Affairs Councils across the U.S.

Expressing her appreciation, Blyden stated, “I am honored to be a part of WACA, an organization dedicated to international policy, education, engagement, and domestic affairs.”

She highlighted her commitment to collaborating with local chapters to raise awareness about U.S. governance, Africa’s global relevance, and the Western Hemisphere’s role in international affairs.

WACA also thanked outgoing board members Mimi Gregory, Mimi Burke, and Maryanne Maldonado for their years of service. As one of the oldest non-partisan international affairs organizations in the U.S., WACA aims to enhance public understanding of global issues through events and educational programs. Blyden’s appointment is expected to strengthen WACA’s focus on connecting global conversations with local communities.
