The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Zhao Yong, officially presented a copy of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Timothy Musa Kabba, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Zhao highlighted the longstanding friendship between China and Sierra Leone, noting the “fruitful achievements” the two nations have recorded through years of practical cooperation. He pledged to work closely with the Sierra Leonean government to implement key understandings reached by the two heads of state, as well as the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
Ambassador Zhao emphasized that these efforts are aimed at further strengthening and elevating the China–Sierra Leone Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
Minister Kabba warmly welcomed the Ambassador, reiterating that Sierra Leone attaches great importance to its friendship with the People’s Republic of China.
He highlighted the tangible progress made in bilateral cooperation and the two nations’ synchronized efforts in international affairs, assuring Ambassador Zhao that the Government of Sierra Leone stands ready to collaborate in advancing the continuous development of their diplomatic relations.
