The Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Alfred Kamanda Esq., has described the 2025 Assize Service as the best he has attended since being called to the Bar.
“This is the best Assize Service, well organized and well attended by people from all walks of life. The turnout from lawyers was particularly impressive,” Mr. Kamanda stated.
A Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Sierra Leone, Mr. Kamanda is attached to one of the country’s leading law firms, Brewah & Co. Solicitors. He commended the Chief Justice for the ongoing judicial reforms and expressed optimism that the 2025/26 Judicial Year, launched alongside the Criminal Procedure Act, 2024, will deliver long-awaited improvements in the administration of justice.
Many of the Judges shared similar sentiments, praising the organization and turnout of the event.
At the conclusion of the service, the Honourable Chief Justice, accompanied by several Judges and Judiciary Management staff, thanked the congregants for their participation and support during the Judicial Thanksgiving.
The Assize Service is a special annual judicial event marking the opening of the Judicial Year. This year’s service was held at Saint George’s Cathedral under the theme: “Walking in the Fear of the Lord.” The procession was led by the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Komba Kamanda, alongside Justices of the Superior Court of Judicature, Magistrates, and staff of the Judiciary.
The event was widely attended and celebrated as a reflection of the judiciary’s commitment to transparency, reform, and engagement with both legal practitioners and the wider public.
