In a statement released today, the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone (CCSL) prayerfully followed the recent dialogue between the All People’s Congress (APC) and the Government of Sierra Leone, held at Bintumani Hotel from the 16th to the 18th of October, 2023.

The CCSL commended both parties for their willingness to engage in respectful, open, and dignified discussions. They particularly acknowledged the pivotal roles played by Dr. David Sengeh and Dr. Samura Kamara, along with their respective teams.

Emphasizing the significance of peace and national cohesion for the nation’s progress and development, the CCSL expressed gratitude to the National Commission for Peace and Cohesion, as well as international bodies such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the African Union (AU), and the Commonwealth for their invaluable contributions to the mediation process.

The CCSL urged both parties to remain committed to the agreements outlined in the Communique. They also called upon all Sierra Leoneans to remain calm and supportive of the ongoing efforts to build a better Sierra Leone.

The Council of Churches in Sierra Leone reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the journey of peace, unity, freedom, and justice, and concluded by invoking blessings upon the nation.

This development marks a significant step towards resolving political tensions in Sierra Leone and fostering a more harmonious future for the country.
