Magistrate Marke Ngegba has on Tuesday 8th November 2022 disclosed that he will not grant another adjournment date which counsel for the first accused, Honorable Mohamed Bangura in the ongoing preliminary investigation into the alleged assault on a police officer, rather he will deliver judgment on the 18th November 2022.
Magistrate Marke Ngagba reached the above decision after receiving a no-case submission by counsel for the second accused person Yeabom Sesay.
Few minutes after the defence counsel, representing Hon. Mohamed Bangura, Lansana Dumbuya arrived in court, he informed the Bench that he was supposed to present a no-case
submission on behalf of his client but his laptop had been stolen.
He craved the indulgence of the Bench to give him another date on which he will submit his written address.
Responding to the no-case submission submitted by counsel for the second accused, State Counsel Yusif Isaac Sesay told the Bench that he would have loved to reply, but he relied on the evidence led so far before the court.
Magistrate Marke Ngegba remarked that the time requested by counsel for the first accused cannot be accommodated especially so when counsel for the second accused Brima Koroma has presented
He however adjourned the matter to the 18th of November 2022 for a ruling. Honourable Mohamed Bangura and Yabom Sesay are before the Court on five counts of assault-related charges; after police alleged they assaulted Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Ibrahim Tommy while executing his lawful duty as a police officer.
