The Sexual Model Court Division of the High Court in Freetown will decide the fate of popular politician, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray today, Thursday 9 February 2023.
Concord Times reported that today will be the ‘judgment day’ for Kamarainba, who is standing trial for penetrating a 15-year-old minor about three years ago.
The former Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) presidential candidate was charged together with one Marion Aruni who is an aunt to the alleged victim in the matter.
The prosecutor in the matter, Umu Sumaray has led in evidence several witnesses that testified against the ADP Leadeevidenceni in court. The evidences adduced implicated the two accused.
Kamarainba in his defence, denied the allegations and gave evidence that contrasted the timeline he was accused of having sex with the girl. The politician said in court that he was innocent and that the charges against him were false and politically motivated.
In the last court sitting of the matter, Justice Samuel Omodele Taylor granted the politician bail. However, the accused failed to meet the bail conditions s toet by the judge.
According the Court’s Registrar, Kamarainba has failed to tender his foreign passport which is said to have been destroyed in a fire accident in his Makeni home.
According to reports, today’s sitting will decide the fate of the ADP party leader and chairman.
