Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, has met with the Sierra Leonean team selected to represent the country at the prestigious Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO), Africa’s leading mathematics competition for secondary school students.
The team is scheduled to depart on Thursday, June 25, 2026, and compete alongside some of the continent’s brightest young mathematical talents.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured the students of his continued support for initiatives that promote excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. He encouraged the team to represent Sierra Leone with pride and determination on the continental stage.

On behalf of the delegation, team leader Amos Vandi Saati expressed appreciation to the Chief Minister for his timely support and noted that the encouragement would serve as motivation for the team.
The Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad brings together top-performing secondary school students from across Africa to showcase their mathematical abilities, foster academic excellence, and promote collaboration among future leaders in science and technology.

Sierra Leone’s participation in this year’s competition marks a significant step forward in the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen mathematics education and nurture a new generation of problem-solvers and innovators.
