Based on his over 40 years wealth of knowledge and experience as a politician, technocrat, diplomat and statesman, frontrunner for the All People’s Congress (APC) 2023 presidential standard bearer position has in a meeting with the rank and file of party members in Makeni warned the party not to make the wrong choice.
“Choice, choice, choice” he stressed; meaning that the future destiny of the country lies with the person the party elects to lead them into the 2023 general elections. He warned the party not to discriminate and end up choosing the wrong leadership.
He furthered by stating, “in choosing our leaders, we should think twice,” adding, “we are suffering today as a country because of the choice of leadership that we made in 2018.”
In which vein, Samura Kamara asked the people to trust him and to have confidence in him. As a leader, he said, his emphasis will be on building strong state institutions and positioning the economy to work. He gave the example of Ghana which, he said, has strong economy because it has strong state institutions, especially the financial sector.
APC, he said, from his calculation, only needs 1.6 million votes to win the 2023 presidential election. The Western Area and North-West can provide that number. However, he said, their voters failed to turn out in their numbers in the last elections. It is for that reason, he said, he visited all parts of the country holding engagements with stakeholders on how that number can be attained.
According to The Exclusive Newspaper, Samura Kamara agreed that sixty years after independence, not much has been achieved. His assignment as president, he said, will be how best he can remake the country. The country has ailments and challenges that still remain unsolved.
