The Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone has rusticated 65 students for examination malpractices during the First Semester Examination of the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
The decision follows an investigation by the university’s Disciplinary Committee, which found the students guilty of violating examination policies.
The university cited Section 50, subsections (1-5) of the Universities Act (No. 5), 2021, alongside the Students Code of Conduct and the Examination Policy, as the basis for the disciplinary action.
As a result, the affected students are barred from participating in the Second Semester Examinations and any university functions until the 2025/2026 Academic Year. Upon their return, they will be required to repeat their current academic year.
The management has instructed all Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, and subject lecturers to implement the necessary measures in light of this decision.
The following document is a list containing the names of the 50 students rusticated by the University.

The repercussions and ramifications of this singular behaviour will be far reaching. The image and integrity of the university are at stake. The students have brought shame, disgrace and embarrassment to themselves and their families. After the rustication, not everyone involved will have the opportunity to go back to university and continue with their studies. They have all been stigmatised as a dishonest lot.
