The Director General (DG) for the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), Engineer James Rogers had assured consumers at the Leicester Road and other communities that the authority had secured a transformer to put to an end the long time frequent power outage in the above mentioned area and other strategic communities in Freetown.
Engineer James Rogers made the statement when he was responding to an interview on how CLSG is going to be instrumental in sustaining the energy supply among consumers in Sierra Leone at his Murray Town office yesterday.
Mr. Rogers maintained that there would be less expected or no more blackout reports even in the middle of the dry season when the water level at the Bumbuna Hydro Electric Power (HEP) dam usually goes down or reduces, because he said CLSG is now in the country to cover up or replace Bumbuna HEP whenever the need arises. “We will continue with this normal trend in the aspect of energy distribution to consumers”, he reaffirmed commitment and highlighted that as a way to sustain energy distribution, three giants companies are presently supplying electricity or energy in the country, including Kapowership, Bumbuna and CLSG.
Engineer James Rogers explained that CLSG has substations at Bigongor, Kamakwie, Bumbuna and beyond, adding that Freetown is connected from Bumbuna substation, while Bo and Kenema are getting electricity supply from Sulima substation. He continued that Kono would be connected or linked with the Bigongor substation.
Rogers described the emergence of CLSG as a good news for the entire country and recalled that in the past few months there were cries all over the place for frequent power outage because Bumbuna was down, but now that CLSG has taken full time operation, even if both Kapowership and Bumbuna go down, the issue of blackout would be placed on our backs for the fact that he said, there would be enough supply of energy with CLSG.
Mr. Rogers intimated this medium that more customers were going to buy top up if there is sustainable electricity supply to consumers.
Concluding, Engineer James Rogers further assured that when the work on the transformer completed, communities like Leicester Road, Sorie Town an Sumaila Town are expected to enjoy an uninterrupted electricity or energy distribution throughout.
