The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) announced today that they will be carrying out planned power outages to facilitate the extension and installation of a transfer bus for a new transformer at the Freetown 161 Substation.

The outages are scheduled for the following dates and times:

Tuesday, June 18th, 2024: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Wednesday, June 19th, 2024: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Thursday, June 20th, 2024: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

According to EDSA, the outages are necessary to synchronize the new 40MVA transformer with the existing network. The project is expected to improve the reliability of power supply and allow EDSA to deliver more electricity to communities.

EDSA apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the outages and assures customers that the schedule will be followed closely.

During the synchronization of the 40MVA transformer to the network distribution infrastructure, Customers will experience power outages on the specified dates and time as indicated above.

“After the completion of this exercise and the remaining components of the project, it will enhance reliability of supply and also give EDSA the luxury to conveniently evacuate more power to communities.

“The Authority apologise for the inconvenience this situation may cause while assuring customers that the schedule will be followed accordingly.
