The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced a temporary power outage affecting several communities in Freetown, following a medium voltage fault on its distribution network.
In a public notice dated 2 February 2026, EDSA stated that the outage was caused by a medium voltage fault, including an incident involving Bang Poles, which disrupted electricity supply to a number of areas. The affected communities include Regent Villages 1 and 2, Regent, Jeneba Drive, Water Street, and Bathurst.
According to the Authority, technical teams have already identified the source of the fault and are currently carrying out repair and maintenance works to restore power as quickly as possible.
EDSA apologized to customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused and assured the public that every effort is being made to resolve the problem promptly. The Authority also thanked customers for their patience and understanding as work continues to improve electricity service delivery.
Residents in the affected communities have been advised to remain patient while restoration efforts are underway, as EDSA works to stabilize the network and prevent similar incidents in the future.
