The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) announced today that severe weather conditions in the early hours of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, have caused multiple technical glitches across the Freetown Distribution Network, leading to sectional power outages in the Western Area.

EDSA’s management issued a public notice confirming that its technical teams have conducted a comprehensive assessment, identified problem areas, and commenced repairs and maintenance work in affected communities.

However, due to the severity of the situation, residents in numerous areas are advised to expect intermittent power outages for the foreseeable future while repairs continue.

Communities currently experiencing or expected to experience disruptions include: Youth Farm, Hastings, Grafton, Kaningo at Lumley, Lumley Regent Road, Lumley, Babadorie, Goodem Drive, Sheriff Drive, Lumley Health Centre, IMATT, Orange Office, Gbanba Yilla, Hill Top, Old School, OAU, Masonic, Thunder Hill, Kuntorloh, Barracks, Calabatown, Mayemi, Goderich, MMCET, Sussex Village, Cemetery, Adonkia, Old Refinery, Mega Cola, Quarry, Lowcost, Lower Personage, Kissy, Kissy Village, Main Motor Road, Africell Office, Wilberforce Village, P&T, Marine House, Railway Line, APC Offices, SLBC, New England, Kimbima Drive, Sierra Light House, Bintumani Conference Centre, Bintumani Hotel, Banks in the CBD, a few MDAs, SLRSA, Kissy Road, Fourah Bay Road, PCMH, Rockcem, Shankerdans, Ferry Junction, Fisheries, and Dockyard.

The Authority has assured the public that all efforts are being made to resolve the discovered faults as quickly as possible. EDSA also urged the public to report any faults not included in the listed sections by calling 672 or contacting community substations for swift resolution.

EDSA management extended its apologies to customers in the affected communities for the inconvenience caused and thanked them for their patience and understanding as efforts continue to improve services.
