In a significant diplomatic engagement, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio welcomed Her Excellency Rasha Soliman Mohi Eldin Soliman, the Ambassador of Egypt to Sierra Leone, at State House in Freetown today.

The ambassador reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to deepening the partnership between the two nations, building on recent cooperation efforts.

This high-level meeting follows President Bio’s March 2025 state visit to Egypt, during which both countries signed a series of agreements spanning agriculture, defense, infrastructure, ports, and fisheries. Ambassador Soliman praised the progress made in implementing these accords and expressed Egypt’s eagerness to further enhance bilateral collaboration.

A notable highlight was the ambassador’s invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for President Bio to attend the grand opening of the iconic Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Pyramids of Giza. Set to be the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization, the institution symbolizes Egypt’s rich cultural heritage and global history.

President Bio expressed gratitude for Egypt’s steadfast partnership and emphasized the importance of the growing relationship, rooted in shared history and mutual respect. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the agreements translate into tangible benefits for both Sierra Leone and Egypt.

He also warmly accepted the invitation to attend the museum’s inauguration, viewing it as a celebration of cultural exchange and international friendship.
