Amara Kargbo, a laborer, was remanded during his initial court appearance in connection with the murder of Moray Kargbo.
Kargbo appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of court No.1 along Pademba Road in Freetown, facing a charge of murder as per the law. However, Kargbo was unable to enter a plea as he was brought in for a preliminary investigation.
According to the police report, on September 26, 2024, at #14 Sesay Lane, Moyiba, in Freetown, the accused, Kargbo, allegedly murdered Moray Kargbo. The first prosecution witness, Yayah Mansaray, a plumber, testified that on the same day, he heard someone crying for help while eating at Sesay Lane, Moyiba. Mansaray rushed to the scene and found the victim bleeding from his chest. The witness also identified the accused at the crime scene, who attempted to flee but was apprehended by local youth.
Mansaray further testified that the victim’s relative took him to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The witness provided a statement at the PWD Police Station the following day. The accused, who did not have legal representation, cross-examined the witness to challenge the evidence presented against him. Additional witnesses are expected to testify in the case.
Magistrate Kekura ordered the accused to be remanded and scheduled the next hearing for November 11, 2024.
